Geneva has one of the strictest prostitution laws in Switzerland (LProst 2009, revised 2017). Mandatory registration, high fines for violations, and at the same time an internationally oriented industry with a high number of foreign sex workers. Aspasie – the oldest Swiss advice center (since 1982) – is based in Geneva.
Legal situation
Sexarbeitende müssen sich vor Beginn der Tätigkeit persönlich bei der Brigade des moeurs (Sittenpolizei) registrieren – mit Identitätsausweis, Aufenthaltsbewilligung, Foto und Tätigkeitsort. Verstösse gegen die Registrierungspflicht: Bussen bis CHF 60'000. Salon-Betreiber benötigen eine Bewilligung des Conseil d'Etat.
Restricted areas & location rules
Strassenprostitution ist auf den Bereich Pâquis (Rue de Berne und angrenzend) sowie das Industriequartier Acacias begrenzt. In Wohnvierteln, Schulnähe und Sakralbauten untersagt. Salon-Sexarbeit unterliegt keinen geografischen Sperrgebieten innerhalb der erlaubten Geschäftszonen.
