Sperrgebiet

Zone defined by the canton or municipality in which street prostitution is prohibited.

Auch bekannt als: Sperrzone, Verbotszone

A restricted area is a locally defined zone in which street prostitution is prohibited by cantonal or municipal ordinance. Typical restricted areas: residential areas, near schools, hospitals, religious buildings, train station surroundings.

In Zurich, street prostitution is only permitted in narrowly defined zones (Häringstrasse, Verfassungsboxen Depotweg). Bern only allows them in the Kocherpark area. Basel, Ticino and many rural cantons completely prohibit street prostitution in the entire cantonal area.

Indoor sex work (apartments, salons) is generally not affected by restricted areas.
