STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection, formerly STD) refers to sexually transmitted infections. The most common in Switzerland are: chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV, hepatitis B/C, HPV, and genital herpes. Recommended testing frequency for sex workers: comprehensive screening every 3 months.

Free or low-cost testing is available at Checkpoints (Zurich, Geneva, Lausanne, Basel, Lugano), Aspasie (Geneva), Xenia (Bern), the Women’s Emergency Hotline, and cantonal AIDS support organizations.
