Auch bekannt als: Post-Expositions-Prophylaxe, Postexpositionsprophylaxe

Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is a 28-day course of medication that significantly reduces the risk of infection following potential exposure to HIV. It must be started within 48–72 hours of the exposure—the sooner, the more effective.

Points of contact in Switzerland: any hospital emergency room. PEP is covered by health insurance if there is a medically justified risk. Sex workers should familiarize themselves in advance with the emergency protocol in their area of residence.
