Auch bekannt als: Post-Expositions-Prophylaxe, Postexpositionsprophylaxe

Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) is a 28-day course of medication that greatly reduces the risk of infection after possible HIV contact. It must be started within 48-72 hours after the risk event - the earlier, the more effective.

Contact points in Switzerland: every hospital emergency room. PEP is covered by health insurance if there is a medically justified risk. Sex workers should know the emergency response path where they live in advance.
