The Revision of the Sexual Criminal Law came into force on July 1, 2024. Significant innovations:
- Expansion of the offense of rape: Men and non-vaginal penetrations are also covered
- No means no: The central point is the disregard of the opposing will - silence or freezing ("freezing") is considered a no
- Stealthing expressly punishable
- Cyber-sexual crimes: Sending unwanted nude pictures (“dick pics”) is considered sexual harassment
- Increased penaltiesfor groups of perpetrators and particularly vulnerable victims
The reform is an important gain in protection for sex workers: even within an agreed date, every act is only considered capable of consent if consent is actually given.
